1. Métropolitain coasters, 5 pack, ¥200. Here's a teeny secret. Métropolitain store in Nagoya (Japan) is a doozy second-hand boutique. Most vintage stores in these parts harvest their rug from the 80's - 90's. Cool, but obviously common. Métropolitain went a tad deeper and she's fitted out with all sorts of goodies from the [mid?] 60's - 70's. Almost literally feels like you've walked into the set of Mad Men. The greens, the teals, the pinks, the browns, the tweeds, the buttons, the ties, the rugs, the curtains and the art. She's a little delight.
2. Fumer tue. A cute little French family sits beside me at a tiny shady looking bar in Kyoto. Small talks, small talks. I love how the French speak. Strangely superior. They light up their cigarettes, inhale, exhale. Strangely superior. The little lady offers me a sniff of her now empty packet. I accepted the puzzling but puzzlingly inviting offer. I remember it was sort of warm and sweet. In her honey like accent, she tells me I could keep the now empty packet and added;
"Fumer tue? Means smoking KILLS!"
And sucked the life out of her last cigarette.
3. Toro Y Moi fridge magnet, $3(ish) I took home a tiny piece of the show I went to a few weeks ago. Best gig, worst magnet.
* And fellow Japanese brothers, keep safe. X
